The strong reputation of the Drama Department at ImagineASchool has historically attracted talented young performers.
Our two drama teachers — Harvey Doster and Tom Cascella — have been with the school for 17 and 21 years, respectively, and have sent graduates on to such prestigious programs as Tisch at New York University.
In addition to course work, students participate in our two productions. Recent productions included: Agnes of God, The Shadow Box, The New Odd Couple, Steel Magnolias, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, and Twelve Angry Women.
This course provides students with an overview of the theatre arts. The course includes an introduction of the principles of production and development of drama, including the study of dramatic structure (play analysis), theatre history, acting, design, directing, and play writing.
Drama II is an advanced course in acting, theatre criticism and design. The first half-year will be devoted to acting and theatre criticism and will focus on Stanislovski’s principles of creating a character. A unit on voice and diction will accompany scene work. The second half-year will focus on scene, costume and lighting design, including principles of drafting and rendering.
